Schematic Timelines
Non linear readings of historical research

01. Militante Untersuchung (Militant Investigation) Schema

A moving, four sided timeline that generates non-linear readings of historic events.
The term Militant Investigation refers to a method of research that came into use in context of the wildcat strikes and the Autonomist Operaist movement of the 60s in Northern Italy.

The Autonomist Operaist movement expands upon the classical Marxist investigation of workers struggle. Here the focus moves from exploitation within the factory to the 'social factory' of everyday society. Autonomist movements emerged within 1970's Italy as a struggle for autonomy from hierarchical systems of political and economic power.

The Militant Investigation schema emerged from a seminar of the same name currently given within the Spatial Strategies MA at Weißensee Art School, Berlin.

02. Strategies of Making Visible Within the Context of Civil and Political Rights, Australia, 2003 - 2014

The schema displays methods used by artists and cultural workers to highlight a politics of representation - what is made visible and known to whom - within Australia. These methods or strategies are displayed within the context of wider political events such as censorship, public protest and law making. The four sides of the timeline represent time, the strategies themselves, the events that occurred and the counter event that followed such as censorship.
