LIQUID OBAMACARE - On Air - On Site Sound Festival

Charting the struggles and revelations of your narrator’s journey through the world of online radio and offline health care provision. The show asks: who or what shapes our thoughts?

Join us to listen to a year long process of cultural and spiritual journalism from sub_ʇxǝʇ’s Alex Head. In the United States everyone loves ‘Obamacare’ providing you refer to it by different name.

In the UK people love the idea of Obamacare though they have no idea what it means or entails or how it works. There, in a country where healthcare is rapidly falling to private health workers, small companies and other alternatives, a deep sense of paranoia concerning the quality and appropriateness of a given form of medicine has only just begun. But can broadcasting banishing our woes?

Connecting the dots that make up a diagnosis in the sick bay of spaceship earth. Could online radio be the answer to your ailment?

On Air - On Site is a sound investigation of a temporary radio event consisting of a broadcast schedule of 48 hours of non-stop streaming, including live performances, fixed media, and radio artworks specifically composed for the festival by an international community of sound artists. The project explores the boundaries of being simultaneously on air in a physical and virtual space, challenging different radio formats.
